Southern California Baby Tour, part 1

We love to travel and we didn't wait long to take Chloe on her very first road trip.  On a long weekend in September, we visited family in San Diego, Carlsbad, Tustin, and Redlands and also attended our friends' wedding in La Jolla.

WEDNESDAY

We packed up the car and hit the road around 11:15.  One stop for lunch and two stops for Chloe, and we finally made it to Simon's mom's condo in downtown San Diego about 2 hours later than normal at 6:45.  Not bad for a traveling with a newborn!

Sweet dreams

Us and all of our "stuff"

Good evening, San Diego

THURSDAY

Good morning, San Diego

After visiting with Sue at the condo in the morning, we headed up the coast to Carlsbad to visit with Morgan's Aunt Carol and cousin Edward, his wife Sam, and their son, Miles (16 months).  We got a tour of Aunt Carol's cute, new beach house complete with a fig tree, pond and safe room (the previous owners were FBI and CIA agents!)

Chloe got some snuggles with her Great Aunt and second cousins and we got a taste of what's to come with a very busy little toddler!

Aunt Carol lives just a couple blocks from the beach and about a mile from downtown Carlsbad so we headed for the beach walk to go out for lunch at Norte, a great little Mexican restaurant we love to eat at.

It was a bit windy so even though the sun was shining, we kept Chloe bundled up and just enjoyed the views and salty, ocean air on the beautiful walk along Carlsbad Beach.

......

Stay tuned for the remainder of the trip where we take Chloe to Coronado Island, go out on our first date since Chloe was born, and head to Orange County and Redlands to visit with more of Morgan's family.
